It’s hard to talk about the Marais as a whole… Firstly, because it’s a region that I particularly like. Secondly, because there’s everything there: places to relax in beautiful gardens, have a picnic, buy cool things… So you end up spending so much time “outside” that you get hungry… And why not make this a really enjoyable experience? There’s no shortage of places to do that. That’s what I’m going to talk about in this post: Delights in the Marais, my favorite places for coffee, snacks or meals. There are bakeries, cafés, bistros, restaurants, and even some highly recommended places to buy specialized products, such as teas, spices, chocolates… They all make your mouth water, warm your heart and light up your eyes. Because when it comes to gastronomy, France has the “pole position” (in my opinion). In the Marais, we are also privileged with many ethnic restaurants, which further enrich our gastronomic experience.

THE FALLAFEL LINE

Address:

34 Rue des Rosiers, 75004 Paris

Time:

Open every day (except Friday nights and Saturdays) from 11am to midnight.

The reputation of being the best Fallafel in Paris (I think it must be!) means that this small place is packed every day. In my opinion, it is a must-see destination...

This vegetarian delight, of Hebrew tradition, makes up for any queue... Inside the restaurant, tables are almost never available during peak hours. So most people eat the “big sandwich” right there, standing up, or take it to eat somewhere else.

But the restaurant also offers other delicacies, each one tastier than the last.

One of the oldest grocery stores in Paris, it sells products from almost all over the world. With so many spices, you will come across a range of colors and aromas. There is also a wide variety of drinks, oils, sauces, peppers, candied fruits and many exotic products, as the store itself shows on its sign at the entrance. The store is small, but every corner is used. There is a lot to discover... They say it is the cave that holds Ali Baba's treasures.
