RETURN (ONE DAY TRAVEL FROM PARIS)
GIVERNY
How to get there - Itinerary for 1 day - Our tips - Map and images
If the idea is to discover Giverny on your own, some tips are very important to prepare your tour:
-If you can, choose the first train times that depart from Paris to Vernon. You can check timetables and buy your ticket on the Rail Europe website or SNCF . See both websites. At the Rail Europe website you buy in portuguese and there is a phone for change in issued tickets. But it is worth checking how the service fees are, and if they have all the schedules and promotions offered by the public railway company of France, the SNCF.
There are several trains that depart from Paris Saint-Lazare station to Vernon (you get off at Giverny) at 2-hour intervals. There are trains with departure times of 7:18, 8:19, 10:19 and so on. Be careful to look for trains that make the direct route. So the trip to Giverny lasts from 45 to 50 min. (direct trains - INTERCITÉS).
When you get off at Vernon, just ahead, in the area of the station itself, and where almost everyone goes, there are buses that take you to the Giverny. Bus schedules are synchronized with train arrivals. All very practical, you will find many signs with information and directions. Other options for the 7 km route between Vernon and Giverny are: taxi, bicycle or a good walk.
Giverny and the Foundation Claude Monet
84 Rue Claude Monet, 27620 Giverny
The Claude Monet Foundation in Giverny, it is just a few minutes by bus from Vernon station. Once you arrive at Giverny, as you get off the bus, you will see signs that indicate the way to the entrance to the Claude Monet Foundation.
When I arrived in Giverny, I immediately fell in love with the village, but I went straight to the Monet Foundation and there I started to visit the two gardens - Clos Norman and Jardim de Águas. This is because if it is a beautiful sunny day, with each passing hour, you will notice more visitors in the place. Yes, sunny days, especially in spring and summer, are the most inviting, but also with more tourists. Arriving earlier will make your visit much more pleasant, you will be able to enjoy the beauty of the outside area, stroll through the around the gardens, sit on the benches and, perhaps, photograph for a moment the empty Japanese bridge, or almost empty...
Important information:
- The Claude Monet Foundation is open for visitors from the last week of March to the end of October (there is some annual variation in the extremes of this period (opening/closing), to know the time course sure, check the official website: http://fondation-monet.com/informations-pratiques;
- Visiting hours: from 9:30 am to 6 pm;
- You save a lot of time if you buy your ticket online. there is always queue, sometimes long, for the purchase made on the spot. The advantage for those who already have a ticket is access intended only for groups and for those who have tickets purchased over the internet. To buy your ticket, visit the official website:

About Us:
Friends for over 30 years, both systems analysts, we have in common an interest in art, photography, literature and history. This is where our enthusiasm for traveling comes from.
The successes, difficulties and even mistakes when planning the travels with our families, with the children, with friends, or alone, resulted in very varied experiences and gave us a piece of baggage that we wanted to share and led us on this path: helping them prepare their itinerary according to their personal choices. We know that tastes and audiences always vary. Oh and how... That's why we selected very different options, always showing information and images so you can choose and assemble your trip !
